Senior Internal Auditor

This position is based out of Dentalcorp's Support Centre in Toronto at 181 Bay Street Mondays through Thursdays with Fridays being a work from home day. Reporting into the Senior Manager, Internal Audit, you will play a pivotal role in the internal controls testing program. You will assess, report, and make recommendations for improving Dentalcorp’s operational and finance activities through risk-based audit and controls testing plans. You will also perform testing on the effectiveness of internal controls, evaluate findings, provide reports and recommendations, and advise internal company stakeholders.
In this role, you will
- Perform testing of internal controls to support Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) requirements.
- Perform testing for operational audits and advisory engagements as per the risk-based audit plan.
- Monitor and perform testing on deficiency remediations.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including flowcharts, narratives and risk and control matrix (RCM), and formulate audit procedures designed to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the programs and controls established.
- Perform detailed testing and document work papers in accordance with established internal audit’s audit methodologies and regulatory expectations.
- Assess the completeness and accuracy of information provided by the entity (IPE) including system-generated data and reports.
- Present audit findings to senior management within the Internal Audit team.
- Maintain effective relationships with the business and provide process improvement recommendations and value-adding feedback during remediations.
- Continually monitor and update the assessment of the control environment, keeping current with significant control issues, trends and developments internally and externally.
- Review and assess the implementation of new controls as necessary.
- Work with external auditors to align on testing results.
What we're looking for
- 4+ years of relevant experience in audit, with post-practice experience within the internal audit function at a public company an asset—U.S. or dual-listed firms preferred.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or its equivalent.
- Post-Secondary Education in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field
- Accreditation as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) in progress or complete.
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Risk Management Assurance designations (CRMA) an asset.
- Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls, IFRS 15 and 16 reporting standards, and COSO internal controls integrated framework.
- ERP experience with NetSuite and Workday an asset.
- Proficiency with GRC tools such as AuditBoard an asset.
- Experience and knowledge with all aspects of corporate accounting, internal audit, and financial management.
- Proven project management skills.
- Outstanding business communication and presentation skills, able to distill complex financial information into everyday language, and able to influence and engage with partners across diverse organizations.
