Spotlight on Giana Ford, Okanagan College, Certified Dental Assisting Program

Giana Ford recently learned that she is the recipient of an exclusive award, given to only three students in Canada each year. Giana is a 2021 graduate of the Certified Dental Assisting Program at Okanagan College in British Columbia. The dentalcorp Academic Excellence Award is an annual program that provides one graduating student from each of dentistry, dental hygiene, and dental assisting programs from accredited institutions with full program tuition reimbursement and a position in a dentalcorp practice.

Upon learning she’d been selected Giana expressed the significance of being chosen from among the many applicants: “I am extremely grateful to be welcomed into the dentalcorp team and I am looking forward to all the amazing opportunities available to me. Receiving this award means I can continue to learn and set new goals to work towards in my profession. It is an honor to be recognized and acknowledged by dentalcorp for this achievement.”

As she makes the move from academia to launching her career, Giana has set her sights on making a difference in her profession. “Giving back to the dental community is something that means a lot to me. I hope to be able to help people overcome their fears of dentistry and provide the best patient care I can,” says Giana. “To be able to travel overseas to provide oral healthcare to people is something that I have always wanted to take part in, and I think being a part of dentalcorp's team will definitely help me get there one day.”

The dentalcorp Academic Excellence Award is an annual program available to all graduating students of Canadian accredited universities or colleges who are majoring in dental assisting, dental hygiene, or dentistry. Students can apply for the 2022 award beginning January 4th, 2022 at acadamicexcellenceaward.com.
