dc+ Team Member Spotlight: Stacey N.

Posted May 17th, 2023 in spotlights, the wire

We're shining the spotlight on Stacey N., Registered Dental Assistant, dc+ team, at dentalcorp's Support Centre. Stacey tells us about the variety of experiences she's gained throughout her career, embracing new challenges, and life lessons from her father that she applies daily to patient care.

Tell us about your background — how long have you been with dentalcorp, and what were you doing before you joined?

I've been working as a Dental Assistant since 2004 and joined dentalcorp's dc+ team in 2021. I've had the opportunity to work in various dental practices throughout my career, which has helped me gain experience with Invisalign, dental implants, iTero scanning, sedation, and Zoom in-office whitening.

Can you tell us what it's like to be a Dental Assistant on the dc+ team?

As a member of the dc+ team, I'm available on a short-term basis to support dentalcorp practices within a defined area. I often assist dentists when their permanent assistant needs to take time off. Sometimes I'm scheduled in advance, and others I fill in with minimal notice.

What do you like about being a part of this team compared to having a more typical Dental Assistant role at a single practice location?

I enjoy the challenge of working in new environments. I have learned something new in each practice that I have worked at, and I also have the opportunity to share my knowledge with team members wherever I go. I appreciate having the support of my manager and teammates, especially when encountering any new challenges.

Who was your role model as a child, and what did you learn from them?

I have learned so much from my father. He would always manage to find a common bond with anyone he met, and he treated everyone with kindness and respect. His example has helped me immensely with patient care by helping patients feel more at ease in a dental setting.

What advice do you have for someone considering joining dentalcorp's dc+ team at the Support Centre?

It's important to have an open mind and embrace the challenges you face. Focus on what is in your control. You may not know exactly what to do or the expectations, but there will always be an opportunity to be helpful.

How do you like to spend your spare time?

I love to spend my spare time with my three children. I enjoy hiking in the Rocky Mountains, golfing, cooking, and baking.
